Back Pain

In 2009 the National Institute of Clinical Exellence (NICE) set out guidelines to improve early management of non specific lower back pain. Part of their recommendations included ‘offering a course of manual therapy, including spinal manipulation, spinal mobilisation and massage. Treatment may be provided by a range of health professionals including osteopaths.

Osteopaths have been successfully treating symptoms of back pain for many years and are able to offer a range of treatments tailored to the individual aimed at reducing their symptoms which may allow them to return to work quicker.

But not all back pain is easily treated. It really does depend on what tissues have been damaged and how. In some cases a couple of treatments is all that is required. In another case it could take many months and may need referral back to your Doctor. I will assess what can be done and i will discuss this with you so that you will be aware of the possible timescales invovled.
